BATTLE OF BRITAIN MUSEUM APPEAL 1980
Keith Broomfield Rare Multi-signed Prints

The prints below were commissioned by the Battle of Britain Museum in 1980 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. They were then signed by the aircrew listed and sold in order to raise funds for the museum.

We are offering these rare prints for sale on behalf of one of our collectors who bought them many years ago and has stored them flat between acid free materials and in dark, dry conditions, they have never been framed. If you are familiar with these prints (there were several others released at the same time with different aircraft profiles but similar aircrew signers) you will know they were all signed in ink. Unfortunately ink will fade with exposure to light (which is why limited editions are now always signed in pencil which does not fade) and all the examples we have seen in the past have suffered from this to some extent. The examples below are exceptional however, because of the way they have been stored the signatures show no signs of fading and are probably as good as its possible to get. Incidentally, it is now possible to frame prints using a special museum quality UV-filter type glass, it is quite expensive but will dramatically reduce the potential for fading and should be considered for valuable prints like these.

It is a very long time since we have seen such a collection of distinguished signatures on one print and in such good condition.
