Having survived barrages of flak and attacks by Luftwaffe night fighters, the crew of a Lancaster straggler can relax a little and admire the dramatic skies as dawn breaks over the Norfolk Broads. They are just a few miles from base now and have the reassuring protection of a 118 Squadron Spitfire.
Based at RAF Coltishall, 118 Squadron were tasked with protecting Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn and other local towns.
